Voter Information: 2022 Special Election

The Special Election scheduled for Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in accordance with KRS 118.730 and 118.740, is to fill a vacancy occurring in the Kentucky House of Representatives. Representative Reginald Meeks of the 42^nd Legislative District resigned from the General Assembly on December 17, 2021.

Who is eligible to vote?

Qualified registered voters in Jefferson County's 42^nd Legislative District can vote their ballot to fill the current vacancy in the Kentucky General Assembly's House of Representatives. To verify or find out if you live in the 42^nd Legislative District, visit elections.jeffersoncountyclerk.org. Click on the button that says, “Where Do I Vote?” Enter your address in the field. If you are eligible, you will see a message that reads: “The next scheduled election is the State Rep 42^nd District Special.” You will also be given your polling location.

Where do I vote?

In-person Absentee (Early) Voting:

• Kentucky state law now provides for three days of no-excuse In-person Absentee (Early) Voting
• In-person Absentee (Early) Voting will take place at:
  • Jefferson County Clerk's Office Election Center
    • 1000 E. Liberty Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40204
  • St. Stephen Church Family Life Center
    • 1508 W. Kentucky Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40210
  • Registered voters living in the 42^nd Legislative District can cast their ballots at either location on Thursday, February 17; Friday, February 18; and Saturday, February 19. Polls will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Election Day Voting:

• Registered voters living in the 42^nd Legislative District can cast their ballots at their assigned polling location on Tuesday, February 22. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• The following precincts will be moved for this Election only:
  • M139 from Highlands Community Campus (1228 E. Breckinridge St.) to Meyzeek Middle School (828 S. Jackson St.)
  • M140 from Concordia Lutheran Church (1127 E. Broadway) to Lincoln Elementary School (930 E. Main St.)
  • M105, M133, M148 From H. Temple Spears ( 1515 Cypress St. ) to Carter Traditional Elementary School ( 3600 Bohne Ave. )
