Qualifications

The JCCO Election Center recruits citizens with excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to complete assigned tasks in a cooperative and supportive manner.

  1. You must be a qualified, registered voter in Jefferson County, KY. If you will be 18 years old on or before November 3, 2020, and are registered to vote, you are eligible to serve as an Election Officer.
    • If you are not registered to vote, you may Register to vote prior to volunteering to serve as an Election Officer.
  2. You must be willing to work at any precinct within Jefferson County, KY, where there is a vacancy to be filled. We make every effort to assign you in the vacancy closest to your home at the time of placement.
  3. You must be able to assist your team in setting up and breaking down the voting equipment and setting out supplies. This assistance requires sitting, standing, kneeling, lifting, pushing, and twisting.
  4. Professional conduct is essential while performing election duties. Refusal to perform all assigned duties in a manner consistent with training, personnel policy, and election laws will result in disqualification as an Election Officer.
  5. You cannot serve if you are a candidate with your name on the ballot.
  6. You cannot serve if you are the spouse, parent, brother, sister, or child of a candidate who is to to be voted for in that precinct. You may serve in other precincts in which your spouse or relative is not on the ballot.
  7. You cannot change your party affiliation for one (1) year prior to your appointment as an Election Officer.
