Transit Authority of River City Continues Tradition of Community Service to Help Voters Reach the Polls November 8
All routes on TARC will be will fare-free on Tuesday, November 8 to provide convenient, free access to and from Kentucky General Election polling places.
TARC will operate its normal service on all fixed routes on Election Day. Passengers can skip the fare box and take the route to their polling place or any other destination. Service will also be fare-free for TARC3 paratransit customers on Election Day.
“TARC is committed to providing access to all, especially in exercising one of the fundamental rights of all citizens: the right to vote, said Carrie Butler, Executive Director of TARC. “We encourage community members to board TARC to and from the polls or wherever they need to go.”
“We appreciate the community service TARC is providing. Every turn of the bus wheels to a polling location is crucial to ensuring the wheels of democracy can turn as well,” said Bobbie Holsclaw, Jefferson County Clerk and Chairperson, Board of Elections. “Our office works to help every qualified voter in Jefferson County cast their vote. We're incredibly glad TARC is also on board with that principle through once again providing fare-free rides to the community on Election Day.”
Polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. November 8. If you are in line at 6:00 p.m., you will be allowed to vote.
